Ingmar Relling for Westnofa Norway, "Siesta" Bentwood and Leather Chair, 1970s
The "Siesta" Chair has become one of the most recognizable pieces of Scandinavian furniture designs from the Mid-Century. The frame is constructed of bent and laminated beech wood. The leather is in excellent condition and has a rich and warm cognac color.
Norwegian-born architect and designer Ingmar Relling is one of Norway’s most internationally recognized and revered designers. In 1965, Relling, in collaboration with his son Knut Relling, designed the "Siesta" Chair winning him first prize by the Industry Council for Furniture that same year. Relling was passionate about creating furniture that was ergonomic and eco-friendly, ensuring that his pieces were constructed in a way that could be repaired.
